DVD players have been around for some years and with them you probably have created a considerable DVD movie collection ranging from classics all the way to most recent releases. All of this, if you are a real movie fan! And then this thing called HD format comes along and you no longer have the latest and greatest. At first you want to wait to see which format will win the battle Blu-ray vs. HD-DVD… but now you have the answer, Blu-ray is the winner! You may have gone ahead and bought a blu-ray player, despite the big price tags. What about all those great movies you have at home? What are you going to do with them?

That’s a question hovering around many new blu-ray player owners. Should you start over? Yes, Blu-ray players can still play your movies BUT (and that’s a big BUT) you won’t have the best picture and audio quality possible. How about the new features and extras that come with the new Blu-ray movies. Blu-ray movies are crystal clear and sound amazing so for tech lovers it is definitely a temptation… Think about it: Now that Blu-ray is up and coming you can find many DVD movies for as low as $3.99 (against BDs on the high $20’s). Well, is it worth it to purchase an outdated technology? My question is: how far are you willing to go to have the latest technology on hand? You have to think about your motives. If the reason for having your movies is the story line, title availability, the collection per se, or short money. You should stick with DVDs. Now if your reasons are picture and audio quality, status, experience and money is of no concern. Go for it! You should re-do your collection (maybe you can still sell your old DVDs on Ebay!). I am sure that doesn’t matter which one is your profile, you will find a reasonable solution to your “problem”.
